Fuck you, Castle Party

OK, my first attempt at a real blog worthy of the Williams name today. It’s been a few hectic days of non-stop action on ol’ Koh Tao. The open water course, as I have mentioned, ended with me getting somewhat rat-arsed. This was unfortunately the night before I helped an instructor out with his confined session and then was on to another open water dives 3 & 4 that afternoon. It was a long day. Followed by an even longer day yesterday. A good old three dive day…which in and of itself is a tiring experience….nicely enhanced for me because of the FUCKING KOREANS!!

Yes, two days later and I am still willing to start war with Korea. It’s the day before the Castle Party and I finally am home somewhat early enough (midnight) to make the most of a night’s sleep (relatively, because I have only slept complete through the night once since I have been here and I was loaded, exhausted and on sleeping pills that one time). The lights go off and your’s truly descends into a mesmerizing and calm deep sleep…..only to be awoken at 2:00 a.m. by dudes yelling to each other across the housing complex in Korean. Chez Chris is perched on stilts at the end of all of the other houses, above a small dirt road and above the parking area. Now, it was clear that these guys weren’t fighting, in fact the tone was totally jolly and conversational….except that one of the guys was by the bikes and the other was on his porch, which is next door to mine. The yelling goes on for twenty minutes and sets all of the dogs in da ‘hood off, including my little bundles of fun on the porch.

So from absolute solitude for the first time in days to bedlam. Oh, was I a happy camper….

Now, I live in an apartment complex where there is a castle party every two weeks, where dogs decide to have gang wars every couple of nights, where dive industry dudes get up and talk/play music/fart at 6:00 a.m., where cockerels think its all shits and giggles to start their morning chorus at 4:00 a.m., where you can here most grunts and groans of any couple having sex from five houses away. It’s noisy. I have come to accept that. So, I am a fair neighbour and I let them make their noise for 45 mins……then politely went outside and advised them that there was a castle party and I’d like to have a decent night’s sleep.
They apologized.

And then carried on making a cacophony for another 45 minutes.
At which point, I am afraid I lost it. The door slammed open, scaring the shit out of Red and Spot and out comes raging Chris: “SHUT THE FUCK UP!!”

It went quiet a minute later.

Still, two and a half hours sleep before a three dive day….not so good.

And Landymore arrived. And she’s tanked. It is now 10:25 and I am supposed to be meeting the students for the last day of their advanced. I guess I’ll be a few minutes late, as we have to wait for her moped to be ready. So a quick coffee at Café del Sol.

Oh oh oh oh, and I missed the Castle Party!!! Gaudette switched rooms yesterday, so she had the two beds in her room (hers and Heather's). But Heather didn't get here until today, so free bed!! And no damn all night music. Sorry that I grimed your side of the bed, Landym.....

And the next few days promise a lot of scheduling. The next three days are definitely afternoon fun dives at Sunshine for the three of us, although Landym is looking to dive in the mornings too. While I still have a love of diving, I am almost at the point of physical exhaustion, so I think I will only be afternoons….

And there are three nights of farewells to have too. Tomorrow night is beer pong 2 at Sunshine, the night after that people have surreptitiously mentioned to be free and the last night there is a message on the Sunshine board for people to turn up at Easy at 7:30. I think I will want to sleep for a week.

But then I know I won’t….despite the fun I have had here, I am so damn excited to be seeing my girls and my house and my scene once more…..only a few more sleeps.

On side notes: Red has a cut on his back now, which has been iodized and seems to be scabbing nicely (I know you were dying to know about that); Spot has taken to burying her treats…..unfortunately in the construction workers’ sand pile, so I don’t know how many of them she actually gets to eat; and, I am fairly sure that one of the spiders in my room is preggo, at least she is three times the size of the other now in the belly….I am praying I don’t have to deal with hundreds of baby spiders before I leave….

Anyway, must run…..last two dives for my advanced students, plus I am being given certs from another instructor…so by the end of today I will have between 27 and 32 certs!! Awesome……
